    Résumé: KDI Review of the North Korean Economy for January 2020 features nine papers on economic trends and analyses. “Overview: Macroeconomic Assessment of North Korea in 2019 and Outlook for 2020” by Suk Lee, fellow at KDI, begins with summarizing findings and observations contained in eight theses contributed to the January issue and then compiles them to suggest a general framework to explain the North Korean economy in 2019. Based on this, Lee discusses varying topics and approaches developed in eight articles and concludes with his projections and outlook for the North Korean economy for 2020.

    Résumé: KDI Review of the North Korean Economy for December introduces three articles contributed by professor Wooseon Choi at KNDA, senior research fellow Soo Ho Lim at INSS and professor Ji-youn Park at Chonbuk National University. In “Prospect of North Korea’s Denuclearization and South Korea's Policy,” Choi analyzed the causes behind the long stalemate in nuclear negotiations and then came up with a host of new policies expected from North Korea and the US, along with realistic negotiation scenarios.
